There are plenty of companies led by homophobes and giving donations to shitty politicians. But the fact that they’re the only chain company in our modern mostly-secular civilization that closes its doors on Sunday makes it into a religious…

Hobby Lobby’s founder and CEO is a well known Christian.  The stores not only are closed on Sundays, but offer a large selection of Christian related crafts and part of the music all stores get are instrumental versions of Christian hymn mixed in with more contemporary music.

The difference with Chic-Fil-a is that their powers that be make it clear they are christian and they chose to support anti-gay marriage politicians and laws using their company as their primary tool to promote these beliefs.  Hobby Lobby doesn’t do that and generally stays away from politics as a company.

A chain store is no different than a mom and pop shop who choses to close their doors on their Sabbath days (Friday, Saturday or Sunday, depending on the religion and denomination).  You wouldn’t accuse them of “forcing their religion” on their consumers would you?  Businesses are not obligated to be open 24/7/365 and can chose to closed their doors when they see fit.  

I disagree that they are no different, I think that for a corporation as large as Chick-fil-a for something as basic as fast food (lol hobby lobby) it’s weird that you’re closed on Sundays for “moral reasons.” It casts you in a weird light.
